Our third time at Aeolian Village Beach Club, this time as empty nesters, rather than with our family. We weren't disappointed. Location, food, activities, accomodation ambiance all fantastic, as other reviewers have described. We had had mixed feelings about returning to Lesbos, being aware of the recent sad newsworthiness of the island.
During our stay, we were aware of how quiet the nearby village of Eressos appeared to be, compared to previous visits. How sad if tourists elect not to go, because of the islands recent publicity. The wonderful people of Lesbos really need us to be there, keeping their already meagre 'economy' afloat. They have supported others, so we can surely support them by visiting this magical island, and having the time of our lives!
Recently returned from a 2nd visit to Aeolian Village. Visited with friends this time and it certainly lived up to expectations. We stayed in a suite in the Hillside Rooms, very spacious and clean and beautiful views on the walk down to the Hotel. The food was wonderful with plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
We took part in a number of activities, with the tennis being my top choice, had great coaches. On the non inclusive evenings we wondered into the nearby village of Skala. Many restaurants to choose from, food fantastic.
Visited Parasol cocktail bar - amazing cocktails. This Beachclub is definitely worth a visit. My family and friends visited the resort as a group in May-June It was our third time at the Aeolian Village and we have always been incredibly impressed and were not let down by our stay this past week.
There are plenty of exciting things to do and we tried to do as much of it as possible. The rooms in main hotel and hillside are immaculate and of very high standard! Very clean at all times and also a good size. Fabulous holiday, looked after so well by Ruth and Wendy in reception. George excelled himself with very professional and delicious food. Catherine a sweetie waitress. Sun shone activities super as usual. No problems with travel. Gorgeous village wow.
We have had a great week at Aeolian Village. Lovely resort, great food. Good range of activities. Staff who could not do enough for you, particularly impressed with beach staff on days with onshore wind and big waves. Excellent food. All in all a great week - would definitely like to come back next year!! Had generally done beachclubs with mark warner in the past but with turkey off limits wanted to try neilson this time. They both had a great time and were often keen to eat with their coaches which is testament to the great bond they all formed over the week.
The food was consistently better than we have had at mark warner which was a big plus when you're on an activity holiday. Overall resort is very well laid out so that you're never far from anything but equally never crowded.
Blackrock Diving is well worth trying with several decent divesites within close proximity and lots of morays, scorpion fish ,etc. Only negative was the Thomas Cook charter shambles at Gatwick on the way out which meant all 4 of our group were separated on the flight despite arriving 2 hours before flight departure!

Soaking up the last rays of summer sun when the rest of Europe was getting cold. This peaceful island was putting a summer smile on my face in the middle of October. Read how I explored the island by car and checked out all the Lesbos tourism spots for you. Traveling to Europe?
Click on the following link to find the best Europe sim card as I compared all the options out there for you. Don't throw away money on expensive roaming! Let get this misunderstanding out of our way straight away. That is why local authorities name the island Lesvos. She wrote poems with in which she expresses a strong desire for other women. Got it? Now that we have all the facts right, lets travel to Lesbos and look at the things to do on the island.
In fact if you walk out of the Lesbos Island airport and look across the water you will see Turkey mainland. The difference between Europe and Asia is only 7 kilometers here. Therefore I also named Lesbos Island in a list of hidden gems in Europe. There are regular daily flights to Lesbos arriving on Mytilini International Airport.
There are of course also ferries that connect the island. There are daily ferries 12h from Piraeus that connect Athens with Lesvos. The connection with Thessaloniki goes through Limnos Island. There is also a boat connection with Turkey for people who are on an onward journey. There are public busses and I spoke to some youngster who were traveling around catching busses but it was not ideal.
Bus schedules cant be really trusted and journey are slow. One of the best things to do in Lesbos is a road trip, so be prepared to rent a car for your own convenience. The island is not the typical popular Greek island where mass tourism killed the vibe. Lesbos Island is still a place where you can find the authentic Greek laid-back lifestyle. A hotspot for those tourist that are looking to have a drink on the side of the ocean overlooking idyllic bays and pretty calm beaches.
Your Lesbos holidays will be super relaxing and I am sure you will finish your book while enjoying the sun and eating delicious sea food at the same time. The slow paced islandlife feeling will get to you and I am sure you wont have a problem adapting to it, cause in the end this is a Lesbos holiday should be all about: serenity!
There are so many things to do in Lesbos that I would recommend you to stay on the island for about 6 days and stay overnight at at least 2 different places.
Sample delicious food in traditional restaurants everywhere you go. This is in the Molyvos Harbour. Of all the things to do in Lesbos you cannot miss this one. Molyvos is the pearl of the Greek island Lesbos with its town perched into the cliffs with the majestic castle on top like a guard keeping an eye on the town and its surroundings.
Lesbos tourism can be proud to have such a jewel. The tiny little streets leading uphill to the castle are adorned with numerous cute coffee places, souvenirs shops, bakeries and ice cream stalls. This is such a lovely place and a must do during your Lesbos holidays. If you are looking what to do in Lesbos in terms of activities then this Northern region is perfect for you as well. There are many great hiking routes available, mountain biking tours can be found even as rock climbing.
I passed these activities but went horse riding instead. Since this island has such a laid-back feel I chose the activity in line with the laid-back feel of Lesbos island.
Have a look here for scuba diving in Lesbos. In the morning the sea was completely flat and we decided to book the glass bottom boat Calypso. They also organize barbecue tours to the nearby Rabbit Island. Petra is a little beach town with narrow streets and a kind of boulevard.
Its beach is a popular hangout with sun beds and umbrellas in the peak season but the reason I went was the Panagia Glykofiloussa or in English the Church of Virgin Maria on top of the rock looming large over the little village. There are stairs that lead up to the church with an impressive interior and an even impressive view.
This is probably the cutest town on Lesbos island. It feels like there are a couple houses built around a little fishing marina and a church. The ocean around this part of the island is crystal clear but I fell in love with the little colorful restaurants surrounding the marina. An hour drive southeast from Molyvos there is the sleepy little village of Mantamados that is famous for its pottery art. There are many workshops you can sign up for and it is great fun to try and make pottery and I can tell you it is not as easy as it may seem!
Just outside of Mantamados there is a beautiful monastery with an incredible church. Unfortunately it was not allowed to take pictures inside, but this is a photo from the peaceful courtyard. This museum will show you how they produced olive oil about a year ago. The machinery and the production hall are still intact and the coolest thing is the whole process still works. The entrance is a couple dollars and well worth checking out.
On your way to The Museum Of Industrial Olive Production you will see the Olive plantations and be careful for wild sheep as they may suddenly cross the road! And the best things about visiting this museum is some samples of their products!
There are bunch of bird watching places around and some watch towers to climb into. I wish I had a zoom lens! Stay online during your island hopping Greece trip and buy a prepaid Greece Sim card. I figured out for you where to buy, which mobile provider and which package is best for tourists. Rather not buying a new sim card but having unlimited data for a couple bucks? Definitely interesting for those who are into these kind of geological facts and studies. It has a small Turkish castle and some restaurants, but that is about it.
Mytilini is where everything happens in terms of nightlife and where young people gather. There is a University and a lot of lovely coffee shops, a shopping street, artistic cafes and hip bars. Terraces are full of people and at nighttime the city comes alive in the area around Sappho Square.
Roam around the harbour in the morning and look at all the fishing boats coming in. Visit the fish market or watch the big ferries arriving then head up to the archiological museum where you can find remnants of houses dating back from before Christ and pottery and statues from ages ago.
For just a couple dollar you can dip into the hot springs overlooking the Bay of Geras. Therma Spa is a perfect place for a relaxing afternoon plus they have delicious sandwiches and good coffee. Keep up with Traveltomtom: updates, giveaways, travel tips and trip discounts to make you travel the world for less.
About 40 minutes drive up hill from Mytilini you can find the sleepy but lovely mountain village of Agiasos. The narrow and steep cobblestoned streets are amazing to wander through and surely you will find local hidden gems.
The little square houses a bunch of colorful restaurants and some places to have a drink around a church. I really loved this cute little town with its steep streets and colorful houses. This is the birthplace of the well-known Greek signature drink: Ouzo. The vibe in Plomari was cool, I liked hanging out there plus it had some beautiful deserted beaches close to the city.
Deserted beaches, rocky, pebbled beaches, cliffs, hidden bays and popular beach spots with beach huts and sun beds. The best thing to do is to stay in at least two different places on this Greek island. Lesbos has two main tourist drags that cannot be missed so stay around Molyvos and Mytilini for sure. A third place to stay would be around the Sigri in the West to see the Museum of the Petrified Forest and discover deserted beaches.
Delfinia Hotel - amazing pool view and private beach. Pyrgos Mytilini - Colonial estate with only a few rooms, amazing rooftop. Ouzo Villas - great affordable luxury villas with a view in Plomari.
Irini Apartments - Santorini Style building with good reviews. Villa Faros — The place to stay in Sigri. The rich history, the culture, beautiful nature and its friendly people all contributed towards international recognition of this lovely island. Whether you come to relax and visit its peaceful little fishing villages, you come to hike, bike or dive or you come for its many beaches and clear blue waters I am sure your Lesbos holidays will be a winner.
Back Argentina Bolivia Brazil Colombia. Back Australia. Lesvos or Lesbos Let get this misunderstanding out of our way straight away. This was the view over Turkey on the other side when I walked out of the airport. Ferries to and from Lesbos Island There are of course also ferries that connect the island. Ferry from Lesbos to Turkey There is also a boat connection with Turkey for people who are on an onward journey. How to get around in Lesbos Greece There are public busses and I spoke to some youngster who were traveling around catching busses but it was not ideal.
Lesbos holidays The island is not the typical popular Greek island where mass tourism killed the vibe. Steep cobbled stoned streets in Molyvos. Ocean views everywhere you go in the idyllic villages around the Lesvos coastline.
